ABOUT THIS COURSE
MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma-related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.
Crisis first aid skills learned:
• Substance overdose
• Suicidal behaviour
• Panic attack
• Acute stress reaction
• Psychotic episode

PLEASE NOTE:
This course is a part of CMHA-NL’s Sponsored Community Course Offerings. To accommodate demand, applicants may only register for ONE sponsored course per semester offering (May – August 2023). Seats will not be reserved without completed registration. Advance notice must be given to CMHA-NL if the confirmed registrant cannot attend the full two-day course. Certificates will only be issued if the registrant attends the full course (two days).
