Kimberly Yetman Dawson is the Executive Director of Empower, The Disability Resource Centre. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and has 30 years' experience in community development, marketing, and managing non-profits. She has volunteered on various Boards, including SEDI (now Prosper Canada) and Independent Living Canada. Kimberly is a proud mental health survivor, has two adult children, a supportive fiance, and enjoys walks with Taco, her beagle.
Joe Thorne is a Partner with the law firm Stewart McKelvey. Joe has been active in the volunteer community for many years, particularly in access to justice. Joe is proud to serve on CMHA-NL’s Board and to add his voice to those supporting mental health and wellness work throughout the province.
Ronnie is an Associate Vice President with NATIONAL Public Relations. She is a senior communications strategist and certified change management practitioner. For more than 20 years, Ronnie has helped clients in a variety of sectors across the country to share their stories, manage change in their business, and navigate some of the most challenging situations. Ronnie volunteers with several organizations and is proud to serve on the CMHA-NL Board in support of mental health and wellness initiatives.
Fabian completed a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from MUN, and he is the Director of HR with Browning Harvey Ltd.. He is involved in the local business community, acting as a business representative for various advisory committees, and has volunteered with many community organizations throughout NL. Fabian is pleased to lend his knowledge and expertise as a Director with CMHA-NL’s Board.
Brenda Dennis is the project manager for Remembering Our Sisters Through Community with the Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network in Stephenville. She is a strong advocate for mental health awareness in her community and an active volunteer with many non-profit organizations. Brenda received CMHA-NL's Pottle Award in 2020 for her tireless commitment towards furthering mental health awareness and initiatives in NL.
Gordon Hawkins is the Program Facilitator of Child and Youth Care with Addictions Support Program with Keyin College St John’s. He is a Certified Child and Youth Care Worker and sits on the Executive of the Child and Youth Care Association of NL. Gord has been supporting and working with youth since 2004 in various roles and capacities. Gord is passionate about education, awareness, and good mental health practice, and wants to see more educated helpers working in the community, and lower barriers for those in need of service.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce from MUN with a focus in Human Resources and Administration. Prior to joining the Provident10 team, Peter spent more than a decade leading a Human Resources portfolio with Inmarsat where he implemented a global employee wellness strategy in 12 countries. Peter’s dedication to wellness extends beyond the office. Not only is he a Director on CMHA-NL’s Board, he also chairs CMHA-NL’s Human Resources Committee. An off-roading enthusiast, on the weekend he likes to navigate rocks, mud, and trails, with his wife.
Jackie McCann-Scott is a Financial Advisor and owner of Invested Mama Inc., a financial planning practice that aims to educate and empower the clients it serves. With 20 years of industry experience, she knows the impact that a lack of financial wellness can have on overall mental health. Jackie recently led an initiative to help improve the financial literacy of the province’s youth and is a regular guest on local radio where she helps people gain clarity on a wide array of financial topics. When not actively pursuing her passion to promote financial literacy, she can be found camping with her husband and two teenage children, ideally somewhere near a pond.
