Tuesday, April 30th from 5 to 9 p.m.
Join us for a night of music, soup and fun at the 12th annual Hot Soup Cool Jazz at the Convention Center, St. John’s.
Poverty and homelessness affects hundreds of people in our community, including youth. It is a community issue that requires the involvement of all walks of life to bring about innovative solutions and positive change. Hot Soup Cool Jazz is about celebrating that positive change and community involvement; it is about bringing the community together – musicians, community service providers, business people, ‘everyday’ people, and people directly affected by the issues.
Over the past 10 years, Hot Soup Cool Jazz has has raised funds for those facing mental health challenges, homelessness and poverty through programs provided by Choices For Youth, the Canadian Mental Health Association of NL, Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues and The Jimmy Pratt Memorial Outreach Centre.
Hot Soup Cool Jazz features some of the most prestigious restaurants in St. John’s as they compete in a gourmet soup tasting competition. The event offers a laid back, social atmosphere where attendees mingle with friends, stakeholders, and celebrity servers while enjoying gourmet soups, live jazz music, a silent auction, raffles and some fun games. Participants vote for their favourite soup for the Tasters Choice Award and a panel of judges from the Chef’s Association provide awards for their top three soup selections.
