At Work is a federally-funded national program delivered in 12 communities across Canada. It is designed to assist individuals living with mental illness that are unemployed or under-employed, by being supported to obtain and maintain meaningful employment. The program was established to provide employment support, job maintenance, and job retention services to participants living with mental illness.
At Work will help provide employer awareness activities and financial incentives through a wage subsidy, to help assist employers by filling their hiring needs. Any individual aged 16 or over, legally entitled to work in Canada, who self-identify as having a mental illness, and who are unemployed or under-employed is eligible. Individuals must not be EI eligible or have not drawn EI in last 5 years. One Employment Support Coordinator has been hired to implement and deliver the program that began on October 2018 until October 2021.
