The Tickle Swim

The Tickle Swim for mental health is a 5km open ocean swim across the “Tickle” from Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s to Bell Island, in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s work in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Tickle Swim was founded in 2013 by community activist Sheilagh O’Leary. Sheilagh’s vision came from her personal belief in the importance of improving and maintaining good mental health through physical fitness. This unique and challenging Newfoundland and Labrador event always garners extensive media interest and has brought swimmers from as far as Ontario. In its 13th year with the support of an engaged and enthusiastic committee it promises to be another wonderful community event!
