(St. John’s, NL) – The Canadian Mental Health Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMHA-NL) is excited to announce our new mental health and wellbeing learning initiative, launching in October 2022.

This new initiative will provide free and accessible mental health education and training to people across Newfoundland and Labrador. It is based on the Recovery College model of mental health knowledge and support, which is widely used across Canada and in 22 countries around the world. This will be the first of its kind in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Learning Hub will offer participants the opportunity to become part of a learning community that is focused on wellness, collaboration, respect, and mutual support. All offerings are totally free, and everyone is welcome to attend. You are invited to join us to learn more about mental health and wellbeing – your own, that of your loved ones, and that of your community.

Starting in October, we will be offering monthly classes and workshops on a variety of topics, all related to mental health and wellbeing. We will have both in-person and virtual options. Some of the topics that we will cover include anxiety, depression, self-care, self-compassion, body image, trauma, mindfulness, self-worth, and grief.

Our first session will take place on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 from 6:30-8pm. This will be a virtual workshop, held on zoom, and will give an overview of mental health and wellbeing, as well as an introduction to the Learning Hub model. If you’d like to attend, we invite you to register here: Eventbrite link

In addition, CMHA-NL is currently conducting a survey to see what it is that people across the province are needing right now regarding mental health education and support. If you’d like to share your thoughts and insights, please fill out the survey below or on CMHA-NL social media channels. We are excited to bring our new learning initiative to you, and we look forward to sharing more information with you soon.
