Chief Executive Officer John G. Abbott of the Canadian Mental Health Association – Newfoundland and Labrador Division (CMHA-NL) has been granted a temporary Leave of Absence to pursue outside interests.

CMHA-NL is not affiliated with nor does it support any political party, however, CMHA-NL Board President Kimberly Yetman Dawson stated the board supports an individual’s choice to pursue public service.

CMHA-NL’s Manager of Corporate Services, Paul Fifield, will serve as the acting CEO during John’s absence.

“The board has complete confidence in the strong team John has helped build. Paul and the entire team will ensure operations continue as usual as we move forward with the great work CMHA-NL is known for throughout the province,” said Kimberly.

Paul joined CMHA-NL in 2009 as Manager of Corporate Services. He is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s financial management, human resources, and corporate services.
