Mental Health Week

#GetReal about how you feel. Name it, don’t numb it.

Join us for the 70th annual CMHA Mental Health Week May 3-9, 2021. Together we’ll #GetReal.

These are times of extreme anxiety and stress. But mental health is something we can protect, not just something we can lose. This CMHA Mental Health Week, we focus on how naming, expressing, and dealing with our emotions — the ones we like and the ones we don’t — is important for our mental health.

Heavy feelings lighten when you put them into words. When we voice our emotions, the pain gives way. So, let’s understand and name how we feel. Angry? Glad? Frustrated? Sad? It’s all good. This Mental Health Week, don’t be uncomfortably numb. #GetReal about how you feel. And name it, don’t numb it.

ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

Mental Health Week is a national CMHA event that is held annually during the first week in May to engage all Canadians on the topic of mental health.

CMHA introduced Mental Health Week (MHW) in 1951 to raise awareness of mental illness in Canada. Today, MHW offers practical ways to maintain and improve mental health and support recovery from mental illness and addictions. Across Canada, Mental Health Week events and activities are hosted in hundreds of CMHA community divisions, from St. John’s to Prince George, to provide Canadians with information, resources and practical ways to stay mentally healthy all year.
