safeTALK Pasadena
What if you could recognize when someone is struggling, and feel confident knowing what to do next?
safeTALK is a half-day, in-person training workshop that equips participants to recognize and engage people who may be having thoughts of suicide, and to connect them with appropriate community resources trained in suicide intervention.
The “safe” in safeTALK stands for Suicide Alertness For Everyone – because suicide prevention is not just for professionals. It’s for friends. Teammates. Coworkers. Parents. Youth leaders. Neighbours.
The “TALK” represents the four simple but powerful actions participants learn to practice:
- Tell – Recognize and identify signs that someone may be struggling.
- Ask – Confidently and directly ask about suicide.
- Listen – Hear their story with empathy and without judgment.
- KeepSafe – Connect them with trained intervention resources in the community
safeTALK also challenges the stigma and taboos that often prevent open conversations about suicide, helping create safer, more supportive communities where people feel able to speak up.
Because it’s just a half-day commitment, safeTALK is an accessible introduction to mental health and suicide awareness training. With a minimum age requirement of just 15 years old, it is also one of the most youth-accessible mental health trainings available.
safeTALK requires a minimum number of participants and cannot proceed if under-attended. Please ensure your commitment to attend before you register.
This workshop is free of charge, thanks to funding by Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
