Date: October 30 & 31, 2024
Time: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (each day) with 1-hour for lunch, as well as morning and afternoon breaks. Meals are not provided. Total of 12 hours over 2 days.
Cost: Sponsored training under Bell Let’s Talk. $20.00 registration fee only. Registrants must be 18+.
Location: Keyin College, 2nd Floor Room 228, 644 Topsail Road, St. John’s, NL A1E 2E3. Elevator access is available.

ABOUT THIS COURSE
Mental Health First Aid Seniors trains participants to effectively respond to an emerging mental health problem or crisis for adults 65 and over, until the situation is resolved or appropriate treatment is found.
Mental Health First Aid Seniors focuses on recognizing the signs and symptoms of Mental Health problems, providing initial help to a person who maybe experiencing a mental health crisis and how to guide a person towards appropriate professional help.
This workshop will teach participants to:

Recognize the symptoms of mental health problems or crises

Provide initial help when dealing with a mental health problem or crisis

Guide a senior or caregiver toward appropriate professional help

Provide strategies and resources to support both seniors and their caregivers
