The Canadian Mental Health Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Division (CMHA-NL) invites nominations for our 2021 Mental Health Awards!

This year’s nominations include the following awards; Mental Health Leadership, Mental Health Research Scholarship, Mental Health Media, Workplace Excellence, and the Pottle Award. Read on to find out more about the awards and how you can nominate an individual or organization!

 

The deadline for receipt of ALL nominations is August 6th, 2021. 


Mental Health Leadership Award

This award honours a mental health service provider, researcher, or community leader for excellence in mental health leadership within Newfoundland and Labrador. Awardees must have shown dedication to furthering mental health within the province through his or her clinical practice, research, or community service. Submissions should be in the form of a letter outlining the suitability of the candidate for the award.

Mental Health Research Scholarship

One scholarship valued at up to $1,000 will be awarded to both recognize and support mental health research relevant to Newfoundland and Labrador. Projects should be at the graduate, post-graduate, or post-doctoral level. Applicants from a diverse array of disciplines are encouraged. This scholarship will be awarded based the quality of the proposed project, potential contribution to mental health research, and achievements of the applicant. Applications should include: a curriculum vitae, university transcripts, one-page project summary, and a letter of support from the student’s research supervisor.

Mental Health Media Award

This award recognizes a person, group, or organization that has shown outstanding quality promotion and awareness of mental health issues in Newfoundland and Labrador. Media will include all print, broadcast, and internet based material. Submissions should be in the form of a letter outlining the suitability of the candidate for the award.

Pottle Award

Each year CMHA-NL recognizes a volunteer whose work and tireless commitment contribute to mental health in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Pottle Award was established in memoriam of the late Dr. Clarence Pottle, a psychiatrist and the first provincial Director of Mental Health Services in Newfoundland and Labrador. It will be awarded based on the quality and quantity of volunteer work and overall impact within the community. Nominations are accepted from CMHA-NL staff and members in good standing. This will be awarded by the CMHA-NL President upon recommendation from the Awards Committee subject to Board of Directors approval.
